YouTube has terminated the official YouTube channel of one of the most popular peaceful Islamic scholars, the late Dr. Israr. Tanzeem Islami, founded by the late Dr. Israr Ahmad, has released a press release condemning the act of YouTube. Tanzeem Islamic is commencing a robust legal and procedural action in response to this act as mentioned in the press release.
“Removal of the Dr. Israr Ahmad Official #YouTube channel is a blatant act of #Islamophobia. Tanzeem-e-Islami has commenced a robust legal and procedural action in response to this shameful act on all relevant and concerned platforms.”
People Outrage:
Not only this, millions of Muslims living in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and other countries, where Dr. Israr is loved and listened, are expressing their anger on social media platforms asking YouTube to restore Dr. Israr’s channel. People are demanding to restore their favorite channel by posting on #RestoreDrIsrarYouTubeChannel.
Why did Dr. Israr’s YouTube channel got removed?
Dr. Israr is known for speaking openly against the wrongs in society and generally in the world. Hence, he used to criticize the influence of a specific lobby on the world. He’s famous for speaking against injustice in society and the world. Not only this, he has been critical of western policies and the policies of his home country, Pakistan. But why did YouTube ban Dr. Israr’s channel?
According to an Israeli news outlet, The JC, the step was taken after weeks of “pressure” from the JC. According to the Israeli newspaper, which claims that these videos are promoting Antisemitism, they’ve been running an investigation since June 2021. The JC reports that a whistleblower, who is a former YouTube moderator, claimed that YouTube’s policy is a “sham.” After the efforts of the newspaper and the former YouTube moderator, YouTube terminated the popular philosopher’s YouTube channel with more than 2.9 million subscribers.
However, a declaration in the JC, saying, “After weeks of pressure from the JC, the tech giant today removed the channel of Israr Ahmed…” questions YouTube’s integrity on freedom of speech. Dr. Israr is one of the most popular Muslim scholars in the world
Dr. Israr, who died back on 14th April 2010, is a well-reputed Islamic preacher and philosopher. He narrates incidents from the book, which might’ve triggered the Jews and especially people at the JC. This is not the first time that he’s facing this injustice, even after his death. But he still lives in the hearts of people. Tanzeem, an organization that he founded, has filed a legal dispute on this matter and will fight for the restoration of the channel.
Dr. Israr’s YouTube channel had more than 2.9 million subscribers.
