According to a foreign news agency, the new chairman of the Afghan cricket board Mirwaiz Ashraf has given a green signal to women cricketers.
He said the Afghan board strives to meet the basic needs and facilities of women athletes.
According to ICC rules, a full member must form a women’s team.
The Australian Cricket Board had made the hosting of the Afghanistan cricket team conditional on the support of the Afghan women’s cricket team.
The Australian Cricket Board (ACB) has said that the Afghan interim government stated that it would not allow women to participate in sports.
Cricket Australia has said it will not host Afghanistan if media reports prove that women’s cricket will not be supported in Afghanistan.
