According to Kuwaiti media, if the domestic workers do not return within six months after taking leave, their stay will be canceled.
In this regard, the Residence Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs had issued instructions saying that such a law had been implemented before. Still, due to Corona, the implementation was stopped in the context of travel restrictions.
The department says that now that most countries have relaxed travel restrictions and resumed flights, the law has been reinstated following a temporary suspension.
According to the decision, six months will be counted from December 1, 2021. Furthermore, if any domestic worker does not return within the stipulated period after taking leave, their residence will be canceled.
The department has clarified that if a citizen wants to give leave to his domestic staff for more than six months, he has to inform the department, and this notice has to be given before the expiry of 6 months.
