The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and was attended by Home Secretary and Chairman NADRA, DG Passport, and Additional DG FIA.
Sources said that the meeting has decided to issue an e-passport from next year.
The issuance of an e-passport is being described as an essential step, which will help remove all the hurdles in the existing manual system and make it easier for Pakistanis abroad to process online applications.
Keep in mind that all the applicant’s details will be stored in this passport with a microchip card; the passenger’s data and travel details stored in the chip will be linked to Immigration and NADRA systems.
Its security features include several things. The e-passport’s main page will have two images of the passport holder instead of one, the passport’s main page will consist of the internationally standard dot, and the new key will feature forgery and central. Page change made impossible.
Documentary travel at the airport from the e-passport will be completed in a short time. Also remember, Govt. also extends e-VISA to 16 new countries.
