According to details, Noor Muqaddam’s murder case was heard in District and Sessions Court, main accused Zahir Zakir Jaffer and other accused were produced in the court.
Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani, while delivering judgment in the Noor Muqaddam murder case, ordered give a death sentence for the man accused, Zahir Jaffer.
The Sessions Court acquitted the accused of therapy works and sentenced the co-accused Jamil and Jan Mohammad to 10 years imprisonment while acquitting the parents of Zahir Jafar on the charge of Inayat crime.
Zahir Jaffer was convicted under sections 201, 364, 342, 176, 109, and 302, including murder, kidnapping, concealment of crime, and imprisonment without charge.
It may be recalled that on February 22, the Sessions Court had reserved its judgment in the Noor Muqaddam murder case. As a result, all the evidence in the murder case has been scientifically included.
Shah Khawar said that the prosecution had proved the case against the accused, and the court should punish the accused severely.
Noor Muqaddam murder case, when did it happen?
On July 20, 2000, Noor Muqaddam, daughter of former Pakistani Ambassador Shaukat Muqaddam, was brutally murdered in Islamabad.
As soon as the incident was reported, the police arrived and raided the house of Zakir Jaffer, a well-known businessman in Islamabad’s F-Seven Forum, from where the decapitated body of Noor Muqaddam was found.
Police arrested the accused, Zahir Jaffar Koola, including murder, and collected all the evidence while the housekeeper, driver, and janitor were also arrested.
Four days later, the accused’s parents Zakir Jafar and his wife, Ismat Adam, were arrested for aiding and abetting the crime and hiding evidence. However, the accused’s mother was granted bail while the father and other accused remained in Adiala jail.
CCTV videos of the incident also surfaced, in which Noor Muqaddam was seen trying to get out of the house in an injured condition, and Zahir Jaffer was seen interfering; the videos also showed the employees of the accused Did not
Later on September 11, a supplementary challan was filed in the court, and a list of 18 witnesses, including the statement of accused Zahir Jaffer, was submitted. A DNA report was also attached in which the rape of the victim was confirmed.
All the accused were indicted on October 14, and the regular trial of the case started on October 22, 2012, and lasted for more than four months.
The main accused, Zahir Jaffer, tried every tactic from the first appearance to the last impression to prove himself mentally ill and caused a commotion in the court.
The lawyer of the accused requested a medical examination, which the court rejected, and the medical team of the jail declared Zahir Jaffer physically and mentally fit.
After the cross-examination of 19 witnesses was completed, the accused were issued a questionnaire under section 342 of the Criminal Code, on which Zahir Jaffar pleaded not guilty.
He tried to cover the incident in the name of honor killing, and when the charge was not proved, he accused the victim of organizing a drug party.
