Mark Ruffalo, an actor, has apologized for using strong language when discussing the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Talking to Twitter, the Avengers star wrote,
“I have reflected & wanted to apologize for posts during the recent Israel/Hamas fighting that suggested Israel is committing “genocide”. It’s not accurate, it’s inflammatory, disrespectful & is being used to justify anti-semitism here & abroad. Now is the time to avoid hyperbole”.

Ruffalo had previously accused Israel of genocide against Palestinians, for which he received a lot of backlash on social media. Following his apology, some netizens speculated that he did it because Israel is a US ally and that he was under “pressure from his Disney bosses” not to make derogatory remarks about the country, despite the fact that he had questioned Israel’s tactics in an interview last year and said that the country should be held to the same standards as any other nation.
He also stated that his attention was drawn to Palestine via Palestinians, particularly after hearing their experiences and seeing the long-held war there.
“There is no reason why an ally of America should not be held to the same standards that we would in any other nation of the world, especially an ally. And what I see there is wrong”, reports LA Times.
