India defeated Pakistan in the crucial match of the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup after a thrilling encounter.
This match played between the two superpowers of cricket proved to be the most exciting match of the tournament so far which was decided on the last ball of the last over and India achieved the required target of 160 runs for 6 wickets. Shakun was not out scoring 82 runs in the match.
India needed 16 runs to win in the last over, which they got by losing two more wickets, so India won the match by 4 wickets.
At the start of the Indian batting in pursuit of the target of 160 runs, the Indian batting faltered and four players were dismissed for just 31 runs. Bane, skipper Rohit Sharma gave away his wicket to Haris Rauf on a total score of 10, Iftikhar Ahmed took his beautiful catch.
India’s third wicket fell on a total score of 26 when Surya Kumar Yadav became Haris Rauf’s second wicket on an individual score of 15. The combination of wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan and captain Babar Azam on a total of 31 showed Akshar Patel the way to the pavilion. He was run out after scoring only two runs.
After 4 wickets fell for 31 runs, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya supported the team and there was a partnership of 113 runs between the two batsmen. Virat Kohli stood his ground at the end, Dinesh Karthik was run out in the last minute and there was some excitement in the match.
However, the match went to India, with Virat Kohli adjudged the man of the match.
Earlier, India won the toss and decided to field first, Pakistan scored 159 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
On behalf of Pakistan, Shaun Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed scored half-centuries, Shaun was not out after scoring 52 runs, Iftikhar Ahmed played a smoky innings of 51 runs, Shaheen Afridi scored aggressive 16 runs off 8 balls, no batsman. Baaz could not face the Indian bowlers and seven batsmen did not enter double figures.
Captain Babar Azam was out without scoring any runs, Muhammad Rizwan 4, Vice-Captain Shadab Khan 5, Hyder Ali 2 and Muhammad Nawaz 9 and Asif Ali could only score 2 runs.
On behalf of India, Arsdeep Singh took 32 wickets and Hardik Pandya 30 runs, while Bhuvneshu Kumar and Mohammad Shami took one wicket each.
