These views were expressed by various rheumatologists or joint and muscle pain specialists while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Pak American Arthritis Center in Karachi on Wednesday.

The Pak American Arthritis Center has been established under a Memorandum of Understanding between Pakistan’s renowned Joint and Musculoskeletal Specialists and Ahad Medical Center.

Under the agreement, specialists associated with the Pak American Arthritis Center will provide quality treatment facilities to patients suffering from joint and muscle pain in all 20 branches of the Ehed Medical Center in Karachi.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Arthritis Center, renowned rheumatologist Professor Dr. Saleha Ishaq of Pakistan said that the complaints of joint and muscle pain have increased enormously among people who have recovered during the Corona epidemic and many patients have died. Have been complaining of severe pain for a month to a year.

On the other hand, the daily journey in motorcycles and rickshaws on the dilapidated roads in Karachi is also causing back pain in people as well as joint and muscle pain, he said that about three percent of Pakistan’s population suffers from arthritis Unfortunately, ninety percent of the patients do not reach a proper doctor and lose their joints and other organs despite years of using painkillers.

Dr. Saleha, who is also the managing director of the Pakistani American Arthritis Center, said that rheumatology is a relatively new specialty with a very small number of specialists, but now after the establishment of the Pakistani American Arthritis Center in Karachi, other cities of Sindh including Karachi In Balochistan and South Punjab, people can get treatment from trained specialists.

Babar Saeed Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Ehed Medical Center Karachi, said that people suffering from joint and muscle pain suffer for years because their diseases are often not properly diagnosed and such patients use painkillers for years. They also suffer from kidney and liver diseases.

He said that medicines for joint and muscle diseases, especially arthritis, are very expensive, such patients should contact trained specialists so that early diagnosis and early treatment can be started and they can take care of themselves. To get rid of the troubles.

Dr. Babar Saeed Khan said that joint and musculoskeletal specialists will be available at all branches of the Ayahd Medical Center, while in the coming days the number of these senators will be increased and treatment of these diseases will be provided throughout Pakistan.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Tahira Parveen, associated with Liaquat National Hospital, said that those who feel pain in the joints during work, which worsens during rest, such patients should be referred to joint and bone pain specialists. Or rheumatologists should be contacted immediately.

Dr. Tabib Rasool, an expert associated with Dow University of Health Sciences and other experts also spoke on this occasion.
