On the one hand, the sharp rise in prices of essential commodities in the storm of inflation has been troubling the people; on the other hand, the prices of petroleum products and electricity have also continued to rise.
NEPRA has issued a notification to increase the price of electricity, according to which the basic electricity tariff has been increased at the request of the federal government.
After the increase, the average price of electricity has gone up to Rs 15.36 per unit. The expansion will apply to all power distribution companies, including Electric.
NEPRA says the decision will take effect after notification from the federal government but will not apply to users of up to 200 units per month.
With the new increase, power consumers will have to pay an additional Rs 135 billion.
