Most of the medical benefits of this water are due to the high amount of electrolytes in it, which includes minerals like potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

Sugar: Research on mice

Research on rats has shown that coconut water can lower blood sugar levels. In a study of diabetic rats, coconut water helped stabilize blood sugar levels. Research is needed to confirm these effects on humans. However, the magnesium in this water has the properties of increasing insulin sensitivity and lowering blood sugar levels. Patients with diabetes should use this water on the advice of a physician.

Kidney stones

According to research reports, coconut water is the best way to prevent gallstones. Kidney stones are formed when calcium, oxalate, and other compounds combine to form crystals and then form tiny stones. A study of 8 people found that increasing the use of coconut water increases the excretion of large amounts of potassium, chloride, and citrate in the urine, meaning that the risk of kidney stones is reduced. Not much research has been done so far and more research is needed, but there is no harm in trying to use coconut water.

Heart

In a 2008 study, rats were fed a high-fat, high-cholesterol diet, while one group was given a large amount of coconut water. The results showed that the coconut water drinking group had significantly lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels. A 2005 study found that drinking coconut water may also help lower blood pressure, but more research is needed. One of the main reasons for lowering blood pressure is that it has an effective potassium content and potassium is a very important ingredient in lowering blood pressure levels.

Potassium and muscle

Potassium is a basic mineral and electrolyte that the human body needs for muscle functions. The presence of this important nutrient in coconut water is very beneficial for muscles.

Bone health

One cup of coconut water contains 19.2 mg of calcium. Most people are able to absorb very little calcium, which makes their bones less strong. This is the best drink for people who do not like to drink milk.

Another important benefit

100 ml of coconut water also contains 6 mg of magnesium. If the right amount of magnesium is not used, various problems can occur, such as nausea, weakness, and fatigue. Magnesium works to regulate many body functions, including protein production, blood sugar, and hypertension levels, and muscle and nerve function.

Nutrients in coconut water

Coconut water is based on 94% water and very low fat, a total of 60 calories in a cup of water. It contains 15 grams of carbohydrates, 8 grams of sugar, 4% of the daily requirement of calcium, 4% of the daily requirement of magnesium, 2% of the daily requirement of phosphorus, and 15% of the daily requirement of potassium. The percentage goes to the body.

Important research on animals

Animal research reports have found that the antioxidants in coconut water can help protect against free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that form cells during metabolism, the production of these molecules increases during stress or injury. When the amount of these molecules in the body is too high, oxidative stress is formed in the body which damages the cells and increases the risk of various diseases.
