All accused involved in DSP Nawaz Ranjha’s murder case acquitted

TLDR; KARACHI: The Special Anti-Terrorism Court acquitted all 6 accused involved in the target killing of DSP Nawaz Ranjha and his driver.

According to the details, the DSP Nawaz Ranjha murder case was heard in the anti-terrorism court, the court acquitted all six accused on the basis of insufficient evidence.

A special court in the Anti-Terrorism Complex in Karachi’s Central Jail pronounced the verdict on the case. The acquitted accused include Ishtiaq, Shakir, Faisal, Zakir Hussain, Shafiq, and Irfan.

Earlier, the anti-terrorism court had sentenced the accused Ishtiaq and Irfan to life imprisonment, and the Sindh High Court had ordered a rehearing of the case. Which was re-tried in ATC.

After hearing the arguments again, the court acquitted all the accused. According to the police, DSP Nawaz Ranjha and his driver were killed in 2010.

It may be recalled that on August 16, 2010, the accused opened fire on the car of DSP Nawaz Ranjha in the limits of Predi police station, as a result of which Nawaz Ranjha and his driver Jahangir Hussain were killed.
